Germany has pledged continued support Rwanda’s development agenda especially projects that aimed at eradicating poverty.
According to the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Honorable Dirk Niebel, Rwanda has made significant steps in growing the economy and eradicating poverty
“In its development strategy, Rwanda has focused on growth and promotion of the private sector which has proven to be successful,” Honorable Niebel said.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Ambassador Claver Gatete acknowledged Germany’s continued support in economic development and poverty reduction. He noted that the relation between the two countries was in the right direction but needed scaling up especially in trade, investments, skills development and entrepreneurship.
“Germany is our long term development partner and they have been supporting us in various areas including vocational training, public finance management and decentralization,” Minister Gatete said.
“We hope that our cooperation will be scaled up to include trade and investments which would be of mutual benefit to both countries,” The Minister added.
Through the German Development Cooperation, Germany has been supporting poverty eradication initiatives in the country including electrification in Gashora Sector, construction of a regional bus station in Nyamata and Gahanga modern market.
