World Bank and GoR Sign USD 104.4 Million Financing Agreement for Poverty Reduction

The Government of Rwanda and the World Bank today signed a US$104.4 Million International Development Association (IDA) financing to support the GoR’s implementation of key reforms outlined in its Economic Development Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS). The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, John Rwangombwa and The World Bank Country Manager for Rwanda Omowunmi Ladipo signed on behalf of their respective institution.

Kigali, 7th March: During a meeting at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning
with Hon. John Rwangombwa, the Head of DFID Rwanda, Ms. Elizabeth Carriere
announced £330 million of support to Rwanda for the next four years.

This represents a steady increase in the UK aid programme to Rwanda, which will
rise from £60 million in 2010/11 to £90 million in 2014/15.

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN) has been implementing the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) since 1st July 2010 and has covered 25 Ministries, 4 Provinces, 30 Districts and 30 Line Agencies, a total of 89 Budget Agencies. MINECOFIN has organized a 3-day training and sensitization workshop for all ICT Officers in the above Budget Agencies that is scheduled to take place from the 13th – 15th April 2011 starting at 8.00am.

The participants have been invited as follows:-

13th April – ICT Officers from Central Government Ministries
14th April – ICT Officers from Line Agencies
15th April – ICT Officers from Districts and Provinces

The workshop shall be held in the Training Room at the Auditor General’s Office located in Kimihurura. In addition, all participants are required to come along with their laptops.
