The privatization department has the mandate of overseeing the process of transferring State- owned companies and assets to private ownership.
Department Responsibilities.
Policy Development: Work with the Ministry’s leadership and key partners to formulate, oversee, and implement policies and strategies related to privatization.
Legal and Regulatory Framework: Contribute to the development of legal and regulatory framework for privatization to ensure a transparent and efficient privatization process.
Leading and coordinating the end-to-end privatization process for profit-oriented public investments:This involves;
Profiling and identifying public investments that must be privatized and modalities of implementation of their privatization.
Implementing cabinet decisions to privatize State Owned Enterprises/Companies,
Structuring and leading privatization transactions.
Leading legal and financial due diligence exercises.
Coordinating the approval process and overseeing the implementation of privatization agreements together with key partner institutions that include, the Rwanda Development Board, line ministries and state-owned companies.
