Today, Government of Rwanda and Netherlands signed Memorandum of Understanding for additional financing grant worth EUR 22,000,000 (approximately Frw 21.9 billions) to support Integrated Water Resources Management Program.
The program will mainly focus on two projects; one of the projects is related to landscape restoration in Sebeya upstream sub-catchment while the other project is related to landscape restoration in Karambo sub-catchment and floods control in Sebeya downstream sub-catchment.
Speaking after the signing Hon. Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Uzziel Ndagijimana noted that “this is opportunity to renew our gratitude and this program will solve the disasters along sebeya river and protect the population who access Sebeya”
Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Frédérique de MAN said that “We aim to remain applicable in future and have things happen and people benefit from our support. Our contribution to landscape will strengthen what has been achieved”
In line with the Dutch development priorities stipulated in its Multi-Annual Strategic Plan and Rwanda’s Vision 2020, as well as the Government of Rwanda’s Division of Labour, which coordinates donor programs, the Kingdom of the Netherlands is supporting Rwanda in three selected priority areas: Private Sector Development, Justice, Reconciliation, Law and Order Sector, Decentralization and Governance and water & sanitation.
