Rwanda’s Economy Grows by 9.4% in Q2 2026

Rwanda’s economy remained resilient in the second quarter of 2026, growing by 9.4% supported by strong performance in industry, services and agriculture, according to the latest GDP estimates released by the National Institute of Statistics (NISR).

GDP at current market prices reached Frw 7,174 billion, up from Frw 5,799 billion in the same quarter of 2025. 

Sectoral growth was as follows:

-Agriculture grew by 4%

-Industry grew by 18%

-Services grew by 7%

In Agriculture; food crops production increased by 5%, while export crops declined by 20%, driven mainly by a 33% drop in coffee production. This was partly offset by an 18% increase in tea production.

In Industry; mining and quarrying grew by 26%, construction by 24%, and manufacturing by 10%. Manufacturing growth was driven by increases of 51% in metal products, machinery and equipment; 22% in non-metallic mineral products; and 13% in textiles, clothing and leather products.

And in services; wholesale and retail trade increased by 18% and transport services by 7%. Among other services, hotels and restaurants grew by 5%, information and communication by 29%, financial services by 4%, administration and support services by 9%, and professional services by 9%.

The strong performance reflects continued activity across key sectors of the economy, supporting Rwanda’s efforts to sustain broad-based economic growth.
