Fitch Reaffirms Rwanda’s ‘B+’ Credit Rating with a Stable Outlook

Rwanda’s creditworthiness remains resilient. Fitch Ratings has reaffirmed Rwanda’s Long-Term Foreign-Currency Issuer Default Rating at ‘B+’, with a Stable Outlook, reflecting continued confidence in the country’s economic fundamentals and policy framework.

The affirmation is supported by Rwanda’s strong governance indicators, high growth potential, and the highly concessional nature of public debt, alongside sustained financial and technical support from development partners.

Despite a challenging global and regional environment, Rwanda continues to demonstrate resilience, with GDP growth projected at 7.8% in 2026, supported by continued activity across agriculture, services and strategic investments in infrastructure, including the New Kigali International Airport.

The Government continues to strengthen fiscal sustainability through revenue-enhancing tax reforms, expenditure rationalization and prudent debt management. Public debt is expected to remain on a downward trajectory over the medium term, supported by strong economic growth and continued access to concessional financing.

The reaffirmation reflects continued progress in strengthening Rwanda’s macroeconomic foundations while maintaining a focus on sustainable growth, investment, resilience and fiscal sustainability.

We remain committed to sound economic governance and prudent macroeconomic management as we advance Rwanda’s development ambitions.
